I've decided that just re-posting pictures I had on my previous blog of the miniatures I was painting at the time kind of defeats the purpose of starting this new blog. On the other hand, I'd like to have all the gaming related stuff in one place. So I will continue to post the old pictures, but I will also add some commentary about the paint jobs, which will hopefully be interesting or useful to others.
Next up is a unit of Tyranid Gargoyles. I originally posted these pictures on Saturday, March 17, 2007.
A place for me to post about my miniature gaming hobby experiences. This will hopefully include some advice and information that will be useful to others who share this hobby. Mostly it will be a way for me to keep track of my progress on various gaming projects.

Here's a blurry picture of the necromancer. It's too bad the picture is so blurry, since I think the paint job actually turned out pretty well.
Here's the unit of Dire Wolves. Pretty basic paint job, but they look decent.
A kinda blurry Blood Dragon vampire that I painted a long time ago.
Skeleton spearmen unit. I love the pimp skeleton for the unit champion. You can even see his gold teeth and ring in the last picture.
My painted Wraith. He turned out pretty well, even though I have no idea how you're supposed to paint an hourglass on a model.

Inaugural Post
Well, I suppose some sort of explaination is in order. I already have a personal blog, which I use mostly to post pictures. Sometimes these are pictures of miniature painting projects I am working on. Sometimes they are pictures from social gatherings or places I have visited.
The purpose of this new blog is three-fold.
First, it will contain only posts related to miniature gaming. Largely this will involve pictures of whatever miniature painting project I am currently working on, but sometimes other things gaming related, such as my impressions of rule sets or miniatures I've used. But it will not contain random photos of friends from various get-togethers. This way, I can share this blog with the public at large, including those that have no business and/or interest in knowing about my personal life. Those that have no interest in miniature gaming I suppose are out of luck, but they can probably find many other blogs out there to better suit their taste.
Secondly, I came to the realization that my previous gaming related blog posts were useless to anyone but myself. As I said, most of my hobby-related posts were just pictures of miniatures I had painted. The main benefit of this seems to have been to motivate myself to do more painting. The desire to post pictures and get feedback helped drive me to finish projects, and posting work-in-progress shots asking for advice sometimes helped me decide what techniques were working best. But none of that is helpful to anyone else, so it seems rather selfish. With this new blog, I will make an effort to have some of my posts be useful to others who share the miniature gaming hobby. I will try to describe painting techniques I use, review miniatures or rules I have tried out, and talk about useful resources I have found that have helped me along.
Finally, I have recently embarked on a journey into the historical side of miniature wargaming. It is an exciting and fascinating side of the hobby, and I thought it would be nice to chronicle my journey into the unknown, so that others may follow in my path. I've spent a lot of time recently researching armies, rule sets, and miniatures from many historical periods, and have found many great resources. By sharing what I've learned so far, perhaps I can save a lot of time and effort for others that wish to get into historical wargaming.
So there you have it. Having said all of that, the first several posts will be re-posts of some of the pictures of miniatures I have previously posted to my other blog. That way I will have all the gaming related stuff together in one place. So I hope you enjoy, and I welcome your comments and feedback.
